Uniform

Our uniform gives everyone in Scouts a sense of belonging.

Wearing a uniform is comfy and practical. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out and helps everyone feel part of the group.

Our uniform consists of a sweatshirt that you can sew badges on and a coloured scarf or ‘necker’ to represent your local group. There’re lots of other optional accessories you can wear such as hats, hoodies, trousers or shorts.

Beavers Uniform

The main part of the Beavers uniform is a turquoise sweatshirt – some leaders refer to our youngest section as ‘turquoise ninjas’! Most of our members also have a Beavers polo shirt underneath but this is optional.

Like all our sections, the Beavers wear a neckerchief in our Scout Group colours (maroon with a gold border) once they have made their promise. This is supplied by the Group – there is no need for families to buy a neckerchief.

Cubs Uniform

The main part of the Cubs uniform is a green sweatshirt. Most of our members also have a Cubs polo shirt underneath but this is optional.

Like all our sections, the Cubs wear a neckerchief in our Scout Group colours (maroon with a gold border) once they have made their promise. This is supplied by the Group – there is no need for families to buy a neckerchief.

Scouts Uniform

Our Scouts generally prefer to be more casual than our younger sections, and choose a branded sweatshirt or hoodie (in navy or another dark colour) from the current Scout Assocation range – contact the leaders to find which are the most popular current styles.  Some of our young people wear an optional dark green polo shirt.

For formal wear our Scouts add a neckerchief in our Scout Group colours (maroon with a gold border). If they don’t already have one from Beavers or Cubs, you can buy one from the Reading Scout and Guide Shop (but make sure they know which Scout Group you are joining).
