About Us

Scouts is huge

As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life.

We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more.

Each week, we give over 460,000 young people the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed, now and in the future. We’re talking about teamwork, leadership and resilience – skills that have helped Scouts become everything from teachers and social workers to astronauts and Olympians.

We believe in bringing people together. We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always. We’re a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.

Scouts is local

At 69th Reading Scouts, we’re proud to offer amazing opportunities to young people. We’ve grown from strength to strength through many generations who love the welcoming and friendly environment we have.

We are based in the Caversham Heights area of north Reading. Although Scouts don’t operate with an official ‘catchment area’, many of our members come from the quadrant bordered by The Warren, Hemdean Road, and the Reading town boundary.  We are a little unusual in that we don’t have our own headquarters building so our sections meet in different locations. Please explore the section information (or look at the Find Us page) to find out more.

Our near Scouting neighbours are 1st Reading Sea Scouts (who spend part of the year at their HQ on The Warren), 3rd Reading (whose HQ is on Grove Hill), 89th Reading (based in Jefferson Close in Emmer Green) and 22nd Reading (based on Gosbrook Road).
