Being a Beaver
When you join Beavers, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things. Here’s everything you need to know.
Beavers are our youngest members at 69th Reading, boys and girls with an age range from 6-8. We do all sorts of things including games, sports, crafts, singing, visits and conservation, along with plenty of outdoor activities. The young people have lots of fun and as a bonus get to earn badges and awards.
We meet on Monday evenings from 6-7pm (term time only), and our regular meeting place is Mapledurham Pavilion (address and map here).

Awards
Completing awards challenges you to do more, learn more and be more. See what’s on offer and start your journey to the top. We work on awards and activity badges at our meetings and events, and you can earn others at home through your hobbies.

Uniform and badge placement
You don’t need a uniform to join. But once you’ve settled in, you’ll start speedily earning badges, and you’ll need to know where to put them!
Beaver leaders
All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Colony week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills. And others help keep the Scout Group running by serving on the Executive Committee. No matter how much time you have to spare, find out about volunteering on your own terms.
